When it comes to social situations, being in good company is vital. After all, the company determines the quality of conversations, the laughter shared and the eventual relationships forged.
Similarly, a good connection with clothes is essential to developing a timeless wardrobe worth revisiting and ultimately one that transcends seasons. In Good Company is a Singapore-based fashion label that celebrates that very ethos. By combining well-made construction with re-invented classic silhouettes, the label is better seen as an anti-thesis to all that is trendy on the runways.
The designers, Sven Tan and Kane Tan, are no doubt masters of minimal aesthetics by way of presenting a muted earthy palette and close to no print work in their collections. Nonetheless, the shapes remain feminine with added ruffles, pleats and soft tailoring done in warm-weather friendly fabrics.
We adore the re-imagined peplum top that is waisted through with a drawstring and gives just enough breathing space, turning it into a wearable staple. The little off-shouldered white dress may seem simple but on closer inspection mimics a ribbon draping down on one side. It is precisely this eye for detail that brings In Good Company’s staples a notch higher.
Believing that the mommies should not have all the fun, the label has launched a mini me collection, specifically for the little fashionistas in the family. One third of every adult’s capsule collection will be reworked into mini me versions for girls aged 3 – 8 years.
If the concept alone doesn’t get you all gooey inside then think about how delightful the little ones will look in drape-sleeved dresses, asymmetric hemlines and tri-toned tees.
So the hunt is over. The hunt for ineffably stylish, invariably wearable and perfectly constructed staples that is. Both for the adults and the kids in your lives.
