Here’s Johnny! While Stephen King famously declared he hated the movie version of his novel, audiences seem to disagree. Not only does it feature crazy slasher scenes, but also ghostly figures you can’t decide are real or just a figment of the character’s twisted imagination.

Who can ever forget the image of Sadako crawling out of the well? This is one film that gets scarier as you watch it. When the movie finally ends and you turn off your television you’ll find yourself looking over your shoulder hoping it stays off.

Evil Dead (2013)
The fourth installment of the Evil Dead franchise also serves as a remake. In a remote forest cabin, five friends discover a mysterious book and inadvertently wake a demonic spirit that possesses one of them. It’s movie poster touts itself as the scariest movie you will ever see, and they might just be right.

The Exorcist (1973)
Even without CGI magic, The Exorcist still manages to disturb your bedtime. You won’t be quick to forget the image of the child’s possessed face, or the infamous revolving head scene.

When the makers claimed this movie was using actual footage found in the forest, audiences flocked to theatres worldwide. Whether real or not, you’ll think twice about ever camping again.

William Friedkin, the director of The Exorcist claimed he never saw a scarier movie than this Australian psychological horror film. You’ll just have to take his word for it, because we’re afraid to even look it up on Google.

This is the movie that invented 90s horror flicks. Everyone recognises that ghostly white mask as an icon of horror. Though there are many sequels, just stick to watching the original if you’re looking for a good old slasher movie.

This 80s classic proves just how scary a faceless evil can be. This movie about a family plagued by strange occurrences in their home will make you fear your own. You’ll be especially creeped out to know that the movie is considered cursed because of the unnatural death of its actors in real life. Go on, Google it. We dare you.

10 years after the death of their parents, two siblings begin suspecting that their deaths are linked to a mirror. Sure enough, the mirror houses a malevolent being that infects the mind of anyone who spies into the looking glass. You won’t be looking into a mirror any time soon.

Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Just when you thought you were safe in your sleep. Nightmare on Elm Street tells the story of serial killer Freddie Krueger who stalks the neighbourhood murdering children in their sleep. Needless to say, have fun trying to go to bed.

For some Halloween is about getting dressed up and overloading on candy. However, not everyone has to get dressed and go trick or treating. You can get into the Halloween spirit just by staying at home. Of course, you could probably do with some cinematic help.

If you’re the kind of person that loves the thrill of being scared, there is no better time to watch horror movies than on Hallow’s Eve itself. There are tons of titles in the horror genre, but some of them are cheesier than the rest. As the years go by, it seems like it gets harder to find a horror flick that doesn’t feel like a parody.
